Ven. Thubten Phuntsok hails from Haiti, originally, but was brought up mainly in New York City. He has been an ordained member of the Gelugpa Sangha (Gelong) since 1993. He is a long time student of Lobsang Tharchin Khen Rinpoche, who passed in 2004.

Over the past 15 years Ven. Phuntsok has studied at Sera Mey Monastery in Mysore, India and the Dialectic School in Dharamsala, India. He has taken teachings from many prominent Tibetan Lamas, including His Holiness, The 14th Dalai Lama, Kirti Tsenchab Rinpoche, and His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, and has participated in Mind-life conferences instituted by His Holiness, The 14th Dalai Lama and Western scientists.

Ven. Phuntsok taught meditation and other subjects and has led retreats at a number of locations over the past 12 years. He currently teaches, on a regular basis, at the following locations:

Ven. Phuntsok teaches 3 courses on mediatation and other topics at Do Ngak Kunphen Ling Tibetan Buddhist Center for Universal Peace , whose spiritual director, Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Jampa, is the former abbot of Gyumed Tantric College.
